The Green Banks: Clear Waters project will be heading to Miami, Manitoba on May 4-5 and 7-8, 2012 to explore the Lizard Lake Wetland with two Outdoor Ed. classes at Miami Collegiate. During this wetland mini-study, students will sample water quality, examine macro-invertebrates and assess riparian vegetation and habitats. Through these hands-on workshops, the students will gain an understanding of wetland ecology, the important functions and values that they provide to the landscape and society and how we can sustain these vital areas. Stay tuned to hear about how the workshops unfold!
For more information, here is an article about Lizard Lake featured in the Morden Times about six months ago. It was written by the Pembina Valley Conservation District.
